What's your festival style?

Up until this year I was oblivious to festivals and the fashion. In all honesty I had no interest in them, I was quite happy to listen to my own music at home (while blogging, obviously). This year I'm popping my festival cherry and embarking on my first festival adventure - Reading festival! My instant reaction was what the hell am I going to wear?

There are so many stereotypes when it comes to festival fashion and I've never been one to follow the crowd, if you want to stand out at a festival, read on! I'm going to offer a weekends worth of fuss-free festival outfits whether your style is rebelliously punk or fiercely feminine.

Indie chick

The indie style is all about an individual style that steers away from major trends and consumerism. The loose fitting clothes, slouchy cardigans and care-free vibe is perfect for festivals. I've created three outfits for a weekend long festival that have the basis of indie style. The first consists of loose flowing shorts and equally loose top with clunky shoes and a stack of bracelets. I love the colours used in this outfit because they're so simple and with a summer tan this outfit would look amazing! The next outfit had a bit of a boho vibe with the maxi dress but I feel that the more alternative sunglasses and bright nail polish give this dress an indie styling. My third outfit is for the colder days and has a very laid back feel. I paired with espadrilles as they're so chilled out and can be thrown on with almost anything. I love the tie-dye, fringed top as it is the epitome of indie styling - home coloured fabrics and things that are cut/customised in sometimes formed the basis of the indie style in the 1990's.

Chic & Sleek

This style of clothing is for those fashion forward, always on point gorgeous girlies with a flair for the dramatic. Stepping out in all monochrome is stylish and striking. The first outfit in all white is stunning. To me chic style is all about precision cut clothing, clean palettes and being matched to perfection. The first outfit is all white which will set off any tan acquired lying in your back garden, on the golden sands of Hawaii or simply out of a bottle. Ombréd hair is perfect for this outfit as it offers a more indie vibe which suits a festival perfectly. The second ensemble in all black is striking and you'll appear to just have walked off of the set for'Coven' American Horror Story. All black is one of my favourite colour palettes "Black is modest and arrogant at he same time. Black is lazy and easy - but mysterious . But above all black says this : 'I don't bother you - you don't bother me'" Yohji Yamamoto. In the final ensemble I've chosen a mix of black and white - almost a battle between good and evil. I love how complimentary these colours are together. They scream sophistication and elegance.

Bohemian Beauty

Boho style revolves around heavy accessories, embroidery and layering, bold patterns and feminine fabrics. I've styled three outfits that use these principles. Boho fashion has become a standard look of festival goers, presumably due to Kate Moss rocking this boho look at many a festival. My first outfit shows layering a large cardigan over a delicate feminine dress with a heavily embellished necklace and a simple pair of sandals. I love the mix of colours in this ensemble. The second outfit is all about twists and knots and bows, just generally playing with the fabric and having fun with fashion. The key piece here is the crochet over jacket, I love the shape of it and it adds and interesting focal point to this outfit. My final ensemble hasn't been over thought, it is simply throwing a tie-dye shirt with some shorts, embellished flip flops and a fringed bag - beautifully boho in seconds!

Practical Princess

Festivals are all well and good when they're warm weather with good music pumping out and good vibes all round but shitty weather can ruin your weekend if not prepared properly. These outfits will have you ready for a rainy day, a muddy venue or a heatwave! I adore how sweet the first outfit is; the cute over sized crop top, matching converse, adorable dungarees and all essential parka for those drizzly days. The second outfit is gorgeous and I'm in love with the blend of colours, I love the colour combination of the warm berry of the hunters and the pale pink of the cardigan. The play suit is very sweet and perfect for a summery festival with the floral print. The knee high socks will look on trend with the knee high hunters and the backpack will help you to be prepared for anything. The final outfit is perfect for a sunny day and will help you cover up and stay protected from the sun.

Girly

One of the current trends is neon two-pieces - perfect for the girl festival goer. I love the neon colour palette because it just screams summer. The first ensemble is a ruffled off mint top paired with a neon maxi skirt for a striking impact. Wear this outfit with a neon lipstick and a cute pair of flip-flops for a perfectly fun festival vibe. The second outfit is so gorgeous, a teal bandeau with a sheer white top, distressed denim shorts and lace toms, a profusion of rings - it doesn't cute cuter than that! This outfit had a more 'hipster' inspiration. The final outfit is adorable; a lemon coloured lace top, with watermelon pink lace shorts, a heavily embellished necklace and cute white platforms. This trio of outfits is bright and fun making you the centre of attention at any festival!

Punk rock

This is by far my favourite collection - it suits me perfectly and will be my style choice for reading as it is my style down to a tee. This style to me is a mixture of goth, emo, punk, fetish and rock - it's my favourite way to dress! The first ensemble is a red tartan top (a change from the usual tartan skirt) paired with an asymmetric leather skirt, stockings and a pair of docs. The second outfit is a band tee (I chose ac/dc because I was listening to them at the time of choosing outfits) and a skirts with braces, a choker with chains and a pair of standard black vans. My final outfit and my personal favourite a simple choker, black bustier top, black skinny jeans with zip detailing and chunk black shoes. I love this style and it gives me a confidence boost when wearing it - I feel comfortable in it.

I hope this post has been helpful in deciding what to wear to a festival and I hope you have great fun at whatever festival you're attending! I'll be creating a post once I'm fully decided on what I'll be wearing to Reading festival!

Must have autumn items!

Who's ready for a new season? I most definitely am ready, Autumn has to be my favourite of the four season. The striking colour palette, the transition from summer, the layering, the new flurry of trends. It's an exciting time of year for any fashionista! This post is all about my top picks this autumn, I'll later include a trend report but this post is all about what I'll be wearing this Autumn so I hope I can inspire some of you to create some gorgeous looks this season!

1. Leather Skirt

This little beauty will very likely feature in my wardrobe at least once a week. I am obsessed with leather skirts for many reasons. Firstly I love the colour black, it's dark & mysterious yet sleek and simple. I love that leather can be so harsh and grungy yet a skirt can be so girly and feminine so a leather skirt keeps a balance of the two which is what my wardrobe is all about. I also really love that this is such a versatile piece, when buying pieces for seasons it's important to pick versatile pieces as this is most cost effective.
(Skirt above - H&M £20)

2.Slouchy jumper

When the cold weather arrives all I want to do is snuggle in my warm bed all day and read books and blog! A good way to take that comfort and warmth with you all day is to invest in a cozy, knitted jumper, not only will you be kept toastier than a marshmallow, you'll look gorgeous too! These can be styled in so many ways it's a wonder item!
(Jumper above - H&M £15)

3. Fur Coat

Something in me is obsessed with fur. I don't know what it is about fur but I love it, it could be the soft, fuzzy texture, it could be the glamour, it could be that it reminds me of my stuffed animal Leo the Leopard. Each Autumn/Winter season I'm on a mission to find a gorgeous Leopard print fur coat, that won't cost me my whole season budget! I came close last year with a £50 one in new look but as I didn't love it I decided against it, however I came even closer this year with a gorgeous £20 one on eBay which I won but however the coat never arrived so I settle with a refund and a new pair of shoes. I will buy myself a gorgeous leopard print coat and I will feel glamorous wearing it out this year! So fashionistas join me on the hunt for a faux fur leopard print coat!
(Fur coat - glam-net.com £245)

4. Peplum top

This little garment simply won't exit the runway, we've seen it season after season but I still adore it! The shape the peplum creates is simply gorgeous and I feel so feminine whilst wearing it but at the same time I feel very sleek and simplistic especially in my black peplum top from Primark, at £8 it was practically a steal! This season, I'll be branching out and finding a peplum that matches the colour palette but more importantly will be wearable with almost anything.
(Peplum top - houseoffraser.co.uk £8)

5. Ankle booties

This season I recommend you get yourself a pair like these beauties! Heeled booties with numerous buckles and cutouts are the epitome of footwear this season. Wear them with bright tights and skirt or a pair of skinny, cropped jeans and you'll be strutting your stylish self in style. What I love about these shoes is that they give you added height (which for me is a must) but they are a more casual way of doing so. You don't need to wear a pair of killer heels to add inches to your legs, instead try a pair of these gorgeous little booties.
(H&M - £49.50)

6. White Blazer

Whites are a wonderful edition to an Autumn/Winter wardrobe and a blazer is perfect for the colder months. Not only will it brighten your outfit it will also highlight you tan from the summer. Personally I love to team my white blazer with a white bandeau, white sheer vest, black leather look trousers and minimalist gold jewellery. I found my White Blazer on a sale rail in H&M for £5 that was definitely one of my best bargains of all time! As it is a blazer it is a little more formal however wear it with light jeans and a simple logo tee and you'll still have a causal vibe to your ensemble.
(White Tailored Blazer - mango.com £60)

7. Patterned Tights

I like to dress with a bit of individuality and I find that patterned tights are a great way to show this individuality. Not only do they keep your legs warm in the chilly months but they add a little more youth to an outfit and give a modern twist to more classic ensembles. The one rule it is important to stick to with tights is to not allow the tights to be too 'trashy' for example I don't think it's acceptable to wear a micro skirt, stocking style tights and a tiny shirt. Remember one golden rule of fashion: unveil one area. For example wear a knitted jumper, skirt and stocking tights. That way you're showing off your legs but in classy, respectable way.

8. Large Silver Necklace

A key piece for me every season is neckware. An obvious example in the Autumn season is a scarf however for those of you with a more glamorous approach to fashion this is for you. I think a statement necklace can make or break an outfit and this piece is sure to make almost any outfit! I would wear this necklace with a plain black blouse and a maroon pencil skirt with a pair of flats as slightly more formal day time outfit. Large silver necklaces make it into my Autumn top ten because of Kim Kardashian, her love for oversized silver chokers has inspired me to try them too and for £3.95 why not give it a go too?
(Silver necklace - uk.accessorize.com £3.95)

9. Black Handbag

This season the trend 'all black' is an absolute must. Be it in day time or night time it's a very minimalistic, fashion forward trend and is one that I am very excited to try. Icons to be inspired by are Kim Kardashian and Kanye West - the king and queen of the trend! As most people's basic wardrobe contains black - jeans, skirts, shirts, tops etc. why not go a step further and grab a handbag to finish your ensemble off nicely? What I love about this bag is the size for a start. Every woman needs a huge handbag, where else do we store all of our essentials? This could easily double as school/college/work bag due to the size. I particularly love the minimalist detail of the gold studs on the handle, this would make you all black outfit pop.

10. Highland prints

Each Autumn/Winter season you can bet on highland prints strutting their way onto the catwalk. Each year we dig out the same shirt/pleated skirt and team with all black for a highland print centered outfit. This year why not mix it up a little? This gorgeous little miniskirt is a great way to put a modern twist on the classic trend, the abundance of zips on this skirt just scream punk so take it further and team with a skull print knitted jumper and tough biker boots for a 'don't mess with me' outfit. It's bound to keep you warm and stylish this season.
(Mini skirt - mango.com $50)

That's all for my Top Ten Autumn items post! I apologize for my lack of posts recently, I have been so busy with college and coursework but I am getting back on track again. Check out my instagram (little___miss___pipedream) and Tumblr (in-chanel-we-trust.tumblr.com) for more fashion isnspiration.

January make up must haves!

This post will contain my must haves for this month, specifically tailored to the trends and requirements for January 2013...

My first must have product is the 'oh honey' set of Lashes from the Katy Perry lash collection, created by Eylure priced at £5.95

This is due to Spring/Summer trend 'Fluttery Lashes' as seen on the runway at Moschino, Giorgio Armani & Gucci

It is clear that huge lashes are used on a very natural colour palette, enhancing eyes and making the look more feminine. These Katy Perry lashes are perfect for giving your eyes an extra flutter. Stock up because this is going to be a huge trend!

My second Beauty product is the Liz Earle Brightening Treatment mask. £14.25

Brightening Treatment Mask™
During the winter the cold, harsh weather can leave your skin dull and dreary. This treatment mask with revitalise your skin and give you a 'natural looking radiance' It does this through natural products such as camphor oil and toning witch hazel. This can be used morning, night or whenever you see fit. A definite must have for restoring your skin to it's full potential.

My third must-have beauty poduct is the Undressed palette from MUA £4

This bargain product is perfect for recreating the sixties make up trend as seen at Marc Jacbs & Louis Vuitton...

A neutral smokey eye with an abundance of eyeliner will perfect this sixties trend. Use lighter colours on your inner eye lid, then a slightly darker shade towards the outer corner with a very dark colour along the crease. Sweep the same dark colour out extending past your eye for a dramatic night time look. Don't forget to fully fill in your eyebrows too for a very sixties style look.

My fourth must-have beauty product are these twon nail polishes from OPI £11 each (prices vary depending on stockists)

This is due to the Spring/Summer trend approaching fast - two tone nails, as seen on runways at Phillip Lim, Roland Mouret and Tracy Reese...

The great thing about these colours I've chosen (Altar ego - Pale pink & Midnight in Moscow - Burgundy) is that these two polishes can be used in two other Spring Summer trends - Pale nails & Dark nails. By investing in two nail polishes you're set for 3 upcoming trends! Sounds like a good investment to me.

My fitfh must-have beauty product is the Barry M Lip Paint in Shocking Pink £4.49

This is in honour of the colour pop lip trend popping it's way on to the catwalk at Giles & Dries Van Noten

A bright pop of colour on your lips is a fabulous statement this season, wear with bright prints for an all over colour blast or with a simple monochrome look for a serious colour pop. This Barry M colour is perfect for recreating a catwalk trend for less. A very wise investment!

My Sixth must-have beauty product is the Juicy Couture perfume 'Couture La La' £34.50

This Juicy couture fragrance is the newest edition to the fragrance line and isn't it gorgeous! However, a fragrance shouldn't be bought by judgement on the bottle (but it is beautiful isn't it!) it's about the scent - This one's wonderful. It is a floral fruity scent and has a very feminine feel to it, that's just what you need after a Christmas of gingerbread scents.

My seventh must-have beauty product is Frontcover's Black Kohl Pencil With Smudger £8.00

This season it's all about grungy eyeliner, as seen at Lanvin & Roberto Cavalli

The best way to achieve this runway look is to take inspiration from these pictures. Sweep a thick line of Kohl pencil along your lower lash line and then smudge with the other end of the pencil - a perfect grunge look achieved in seconds!

My eighth must-have beauty product is Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle Re-constructor £4

This deep conditioner is perfect for resolving problems with dry hair. During the winter months hair can be left feel dry, dull and in need of help! This Aussie conditioner will help revitalize your gorgeous tresses and leave them looking wonderful again! At £4 for 250ml I'd say it's at least worth a try!

My ninth beauty must-have is MUA's professional Primer - £4

Make Up Academy Professional Primer

I have repurchased this product countless times, it's a miracle product! A current trend for Spring/Summer is a completely flawless complexion and using this primer, you're on your way! Take a look at these runway looks from Jil Sander

As you can see each of these models has a clear, flawless complexion. This is easily achieved with a primer and why blow all your cash on a high end one when MUA offers high end results at a fraction of the cost? It makes perfect sense to invest in this gorgeous primer.

My final must-have beauty product is Collection 2000's Lock N Hold Lipgloss in shade 'Rock Steady'

I chose this because I picked one up on Sunday and I adore it! I wear it over MUA's lipstick shade 14 - Bare and it looks gorgeous! For a simple neutral gloss, this is perfect. When you don't have a lot of time, slip this on your lips and your pout is perfected!

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope it inspires you to pick up some of these gorgeous products!

Outfit ideas for summer

Today in England it is extremely sunny, so I am feeling summery, bright and determined to publish a post! So here are a few outfit ideas I have put together, using polyvore, they include casual and formal outfits for every occasion during summer.

Urban Outfit
I personally would wear this look shopping, out for a meal or to the cinema

This outfit consists of a cropped black top, with cut-out panels on the sleeves, crop tops are  being seen everywhere this season from bandeau's at Prada to longline Bras at Nina Ricci. This key piece is from Miss Selfridge. the next item is an absolutely gorgeous anomalous hemmed skirt in a claret colour. I have seen these skirts around and think they're amazing, I can't wait to get one myself! the shoes are Jeffrey Campbell Lita's, with studs on, they're amazing! They capture an urban feel but still very wearable. I have chosen three rings with this outfit as I wear a lot of rings myself, here is a double fingered gold finish ring, a gold coloured triangle ring with eye detail and a black, beaded cross ring. The overall style of this outfit is urban and modern.

Girly look
This outfit has a very feminine feel to it and could be worn out for dinner or to the shops

This look is made up of very pastel shades, such as the pastel pink tone of the top and shoes, the pastel orange of the jeans and the pastel shade of the clutch bag. This look is finished off with a gold necklace to draw some attention to the plain top, if this look was to be worn more casually, you could swap the heels for a cute pair of dolly shoes, not use the clutch and get rid of the necklace, this would make the outfit more layed back. This look is very calming and girly due to the tones of the pieces and overall is very on trend. A perfect summer ensemble.

Glamorous Outfit
This is an outfit perfect for a night out somewhere classy

This outfit consists of a gorgeous black dress with a large gold panel taking up over half of the dress. The gold is very sparkly and glamorous. This look also contains a white feather shrug, this can be quite and 'old fashioned' piece but the look I aiming for here is 'reinvented 1920's flapper' So therefore I have teamed a classic piece with more modern pieces. The bold tights modernise the look and give more of an urban feel, the bright sparkly ring compliments the gold panel on the dress and the shoes pull the outfit together as they are a simple style and colour.

All in White
This look could be worn to the beach, on a picnic or to the shops

This season 'girlish white' was seen multiple times on the runway, this included detailed pieces, an abundance of lace and some very sheer silk. This outfit has a white, lace bralet, perfect for keeping cool in the summer but still looking stylish. It also shows a gorgeously detailed, maxi skirt also in white lace. The embroidery on this skirt is stunning. I have teamed this outfit with an amazing pair of white embroidered wedges to again add to the total white theme, the decoration on the shoe makes the outfit even more girlie. Finally I decided to add a black, cross necklace over the top because it adds a modern edge to the look, this was seen on a model at Emilo Pucci.

  American Style
I am in love with all things USA, so I decided to make a look based on the flag and culture.

This is my favourite look out of all of the looks I have created because it is so simple but so stylish, it can be worn by so many different people, my sister and I both have extremely different styles, yet she agrees this is an amazing outfit and she would wear it herself. The trousers are the focus point here as they are made up of the American flag (hence the stars and stripes), the Graphic tee is a bit of fun and the simple monochrome look matches well with the jeans, personally I would tuck the top in loosely, the Lita's add a fashionable, urban feel to the outfit as do the retro style round glasses. the 'love' wristband is gorgeous and adds to the fun feel of the outfit. The colours of the nail polish are taken from the flag and worn alternatively on your nails would look amazing.

Flower Power
This was obviously going to come up in a 'looks for summer post' as it is a simple connotation of summer, however 'flower power' can be interpreted in many different ways...

This outfit was inspired by a huge trend every year, florals, whether they are clashed with various other bright florals or worn in pastel shades they appear in the trend forecast year in - year out. So I decided to mix it up a little and mix floral with a Californian style. This outfit consists of; a floral print bralet, a asymmetric maxi skirt (designed by Lauren Conrad - a fabulously brilliant style icon) a peace necklace, a stunning Chanel bag and a pair of flip flops with a cute bow on the front. The flip flops, maxi skirt and floral print seem quite boho but the the colours and style of each of them make it quite urban and modern.

These six outfits are the perfect blend of my style, the Spring/Summer 2012 trends and easy-to-pull-off looks. Obviously they can be altered in various ways such as switching up accessories and jackets in order to make it more formal or casual or changing the style of a skirt to fit a body type, they're all very modern and can easily be pulled off this summer. I hope you enjoyed looking through my ideas.
